GIVING AND RECEIVING EFFECTIVE FEEDBACK

   

Feedback is a specific method of obtaining information about our own individual performance.  Feedback lets us know where we need to improve.  The process of giving and receiving feedback is a powerful method of ensuring continuous improvement.

   

Feedback is healthy criticism because it is given and received within specific guidelines.  Wrongful criticism is negative because it deflates people’s spirits.  False praise is also of little value because it does not reflect real behavior. 

   

The reason for feedback is to:

Encourage desired behaviors and

Discourage unwanted behaviors
