WRITING AND CONDUCTING AN EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL

   

A performance appraisal is a tool that serves as a useful indicator of the employee’s present level of performance in the workplace in terms of skills, level of participation and contributions and degree of effective interpersonal skills.

   

Objectives of Performance Appraisals:

To identify the strengths and weaknesses of employees

To identify the growth potential of employees

To provide information for employee development

To make the organization more productive

To provide data for fair compensation of employees

To protect the organization from preventable lawsuits

   

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES: 

In this workshop the participant will learn to address the principal components of a Performance Appraisal by addressing the 3 Key Issues:

   

Knowledge:

What essential knowledge is needed to successfully perform in the job? 

For example: knowledge of machinery, suppliers, safety requirements, etc.

  

Skills:

What are the essential skills needed to successfully perform in this job?

For example: decision making, delegating, and problem solving

  

Traits:

What are the essential traits needed to successfully perform in this job?

For example: recognizing the overall picture, an awareness of the customer’s needs and requirements, motivation to learn and tackle challenges
