Weak Signal Theory and Filters

"Weak Signals" Theory Definition:

A weak signal is a factor for change hardly perceptible at present, but which will constitute a strong trend in the future. Michelle Codet

A weak signal is a sign which is slight in present dimensions but huge in terms of its virtual consequences.  Pierre Masse

Signals: weak signals are signals with high deviation of relevance.

Filters Definition:

Dr. Igor Ansoff, the guru of strategic thinking, classified filters as surveillance, mentality and power filters.

the surveillance filter defines the field of observation,

the mentality filter hinders the recognition of new ideas by reducing
information when it does not support the current mental model, and

the power filter explicates itself in the decision making process by
holding back less powerful participants from expressing their perceptions.

The toolset's structural framework and capabilities allows the participant
to circumvent or work around these "filters" that can block thinking and
perceptions and provide spontaneous, authentic data allowing an ability
to articulate intuitive, dominating perceptions.
