Organizations and Teams

   

When it comes to teams, each style brings different values, goals, priorities, and standards for compliance and expectations for the leader’s and members’ roles.  By judging by our own standards, it is easy to see how conflict breaks out; why work does not get done on time or is inadequate.  A major challenge for teams is to understand these differences, respect them and use them.  Identifying each member’s style helps the team to understand their co-workers preferred Working Styles, how they would like to be treated and their expectations for the group.

 

Smart organizations consider styles when planning and developing teams, organizing projects and aligning with customers’/clients’ buyer values and cultures.

 

For example, in addition to skills and competencies, a marketing team that includes the Expressive or Amiable to address the client relationship needs, complimented by a task-oriented Driver or Analytical who can provide qualitative data and facts can strengthen its effectiveness.

 

Task and People

 

Developing a successful team requires more than bringing a group of people together.  Dissension and strife within a team can usually be traced to two sources: disagreement on (1) tasks or (2) interpersonal conflict between members.  Knowledge of the four working styles can help deter conflict within a team and improve its potential for success.

 

An important component of the Working Style four quadrant model is that two are task-oriented and two are people-oriented.  The Driver and Analyzer center their attention on business-related tasks. Correspondingly, the people-oriented Expressive and Amiable provide valuable interpersonal inputs. 

 

Stating the Assumptions

 

The greater the need to interact and the more dependent each member               is on the other members’ efforts to accomplish the goal, the more the             group truly resembles a team.

 

Every team member has completed the Working Style™ Assessment and            has confirmed which style is his/her best fit.

 

Each team member has given permission for his/her Working Style™ data          to be included in the TeamStyle Report™.

 

The team will not be depending totally on The TeamStyle Assessment™             for team building but will be using other tools, processes, and models as well.

 

Team efforts will be both task- and relationship-oriented.
