Team Strengths and Potential Weaknesses

The Expressive Style

A team’s style is more that the sum total of members' individual preferences.  Numerous elements influence a team’s style including:

leader’s style
organizations’ style
team’s size and growth stage
tasks and functions the team performs

An Expressive team is characteristically upbeat and friendly.  The environment is fast-paced and competitive with an emphasis on innovation.  Members are compelled to continually generate creative ideas that will improve products and services.

Within the Expressive Team's collaborative atmosphere, opinions are encouraged and decisions are often made by consensus.

Its focus is on the big picture, new possibilities vs. proven procedures.  Because this style is prone to act spontaneously on hunches and intuition, without developing a realistic action plan, it is often unprepared for unforeseen obstacles, which can cause mistakes and missed deadlines.

The Expressive team can counter its "leap before it looks" behavior, by utilizing its Analytical members to assist with planning, organizing and structure, and incorporating facts and details into its work plan.  The bottom line, business-focused Drivers’ input can help the team develop realistic goals and identify the deliverables.

Although the team style can provide insights about your team, the members must discuss and decide what fits and what doesn’t and how they will use the information.
