ESTJ Team Strengths and Weaknesses

A team’s character or personality type is more than the sum total of team members’ individual preferences.  It is shaped and influenced by many factors such as:

the team leader's type

the tendency for the team leader to select team members with types            similar to his or hers

the particular function or tasks the team performs

The effectiveness of your team will be impacted by its collective strengths and weaknesses.  Being aware of these team strengths and weaknesses will enable your team to leverage the strengths, improve the weaknesses, and ultimately drive your overall performance.

The following table shows identified strengths and weaknesses for your team.  Although the strengths may come so naturally that you take them for granted, try to identify and determine how you can capitalize on and make the most of them.  Conversely, not all potential weaknesses may be apparent on your team, especially if you have team members whose types are different from the team type or who are flexible in the use of their preferences.

Take-charge, decisive, and outspoken

May override important long-range factors in favor of short-term goals

May make decisions without knowing all the information.  To ensure that the implications of proposed actions are considered, seek the NT, SP, and NF team members’ perspectives

May have difficulty really listening to others

May not always be responsive to different points of view and emotions of others

May neglect the process in pursuit of results

May ignore the important aspects of communications and interpersonal relationships

Given its drive for responsibility and accountability, may take on unrealistic workloads and become stressed

May have difficulty dealing with situations that are quickly and constantly changing
